James Blair

Pickering Ward 1

To the Residents of Pickering Ward 1,

It is my pleasure to endorse James Blair as a candidate for Pickering City Council, Ward 1.

I had the privilege of knowing Mr. James Blair throughout my years at Dunbarton High School, where he is a teacher and a dedicated leader within the school community. During my time at Dunbarton, I served as Student Activity Council President and was also a student representative on the School Community Council (SCC), where I worked alongside parents, school staff, and administrators to support initiatives that enhanced the school community. Through these experiences, I had the opportunity to see firsthand Mr. Blair's leadership, commitment, and passion for bringing people together.

One of the most memorable experiences of my time at Dunbarton was participating in the student exchange with Pangnirtung, Nunavut, a program that Mr. Blair worked tirelessly to organize and lead. His dedication to making the exchange meaningful for every student was evident in every stage of the program. He created opportunities for students to learn from one another, build lasting relationships, and develop a deeper understanding of Indigenous culture and life in Northern Canada.  The exchange reflected his belief that education extends beyond the classroom and that strong communities are built through connection, understanding, and service.

What has always stood out to me about Mr. Blair is his ability to connect with people from all backgrounds. Whether he was working with students, parents, educators, or community members, he made people feel heard, respected, and valued. He encouraged students to become leaders, supported us in pursuing new ideas, and fostered an environment built on collaboration and mutual respect.

These qualities are exactly what make him an outstanding candidate for Pickering City Council.  Effective leadership requires the ability to communicate openly, listen to different perspectives, and work collaboratively to find solutions that benefit the community. Mr. Blair has consistently demonstrated these skills throughout his career as an educator and community leader, and I have no doubt he will bring the same dedication and integrity to serving the residents of Pickering.

I wholeheartedly endorse James Blair for Pickering City Council, Ward 1. I am confident he will represent our community with professionalism, compassion, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of those he serves.

Sincerely,

Lily A.
